There are a few things I’d like you to know about my style of teaching. First rule of thumb is that you don’t have to be flexible! Too many people stop themselves from practicing yoga because of this expectation that you have to be super flexible and look like one of those model western yogis on instagram. I am going to be 100% honest with you. I have tried to be flexible my whole life, even when I used to be a dancer, my body will not stretch in miraculous ways. As for handstands, no can do. I’ve even tried a Feetup but my sinuses hurt too much upside down. I advocate for and love to use blocks. Some days, we are stiffer than others. There is nothing wrong with using blocks and props to give us some extra support.
My classes are themed with nature, the chakras and the elements. Yoga is a practice that helps us come home and discover our inner selves. Nature also helps us to do that. Afterall, we are nature, but too often we forget that. My hope through my classes is that I help you to reconnect to yourself, to your soul, to nature and original the teachings of yoga. Those are the spiritual and mental benefits which will ultimately impact your physical wellbeing.
Of course yoga is also a great stretch, sometimes better than a chiro visit, and a great workout, but those aspects are secondary and complimentary to practice of yoga as it was meant to be taught. Yoga is a profound experience of awareness, breath and a journey of alignment and embodiment and ultimately to the self.
So, if you are not flexible, if you cannot do a handstand, that’s more than ok!
I also love to teach alongside powerful music. You may find that I also infuse breathwork, kundalini, yin, reiki, crystals, crystal quartz singing bowls and chakra work within my classes.
Currently I am teaching Vinayasa, Yin Yoga, Gentle Flow and Restorative. If you’d like to chat more about yoga and organise a class with me, book in here.
