“Reiki is love. Love is wholeness. Wholeness is Balance.
Balance is Well-being. Well-being is freedom from Disease.” - Mikao USui
The more I learn about life force energy, the more I am convinced that it is a key element is our wellness. As human beings, we are more than just our bodies. Our bodies are just the shell of our existence. Taking care of our bodies, or temples as some say, is essential for a strong, healthy, optimal life. However, we are mostly energy.
Our modern day world disconnects us from the fact that we are energetic beings and that energy is universal. You may have heard of the 7 chakras. There are more than that but for now we will focus on the major ones. Chakras are individual wheels of energy situated in areas of our bodies so as the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown. Each chakra is meant to be freely moving to keep the energy between our root and the crown of our heads moving freely, ultimately contributing to spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing. Modern life and disconnection can create blockages in the chakras which can lead to physical and mental symptoms.
As our society mostly focuses on the external, some may find that even though they are exercising, sleeping and eating right, something is still not quite right. If your energy is blocked, stuck and unbalanced, it is hard to live in harmony with your internal and external world, therefore this can lead to disease, illness and feelings of unrest.
Reiki, or universal energy, can be channeled through a practitioner to help get those energy wheels moving again or just to provide extra support in areas that need more love.
