Foundations of Breathwork: Take a deeper dive into Yogic pranayama

  • Alasana Yoga Studio Level 1/13-17 Gymea Bay Rd Gymea, NSW, 2227 Australia (map)

If you practice yoga, you’ll often be introduced to various forms of intentional breathing during the class beyond the standard inhale and exhale. You may have been guided through breaths such as alternate nostril breathing or breath of fire.

There’s a lot to discover and learn about the ancient practice of yogic breathing, and most of the styles of breathing are barely explored or lightly explored during class. They all have different intentions, benefits and even contraindications. There’s never enough time to dive into each breath for too long during a class.

So, I’m bringing you an entire morning dedicated to learning about the various styles of yogic breath, their functions, their benefits, how to and more. It’s still probably not enough time but it’s a deeper dive into the wonderful world of breathwork and what exactly pranayama is.

What’s included?

  • Intro to breathwork and yogic pranayama
  • Explore the main styles – their intentions, benefits, contraindications and more
  • Takehome material
  • A sound bath and savasana to close the workshop
